A remarkably rich and experimental expression from the usually traditional Woodford Reserve. The 2017 edition of the Master’s Collection uses malted barley that has been exposed to cherry wood smoke during the kilning process. This smoked malt makes up 30% of the mash bill, which is far greater than in a classic Bourbon, alongside traditional unsmoked grains. The result is a wonderfully full-bodied yet elegant Kentucky Straight Bourbon that displays an outstanding balance between smokey, fruit and oak flavours.
